Nick Launched Xbite in 2004 as a sole-trader business selling exclusively on eBay. He has driven the company to expand to 75+ employees and today holds the position of Executive Chairman responsible for company-wide strategic leadership and new business development.
"After leaving college with the results I was looking for, I just wanted to get into work, in any kind of work. My first job was Office Junior with a design company in Leicestershire and within a couple of years I was running a project with Starbucks, helping them roll out stores in the early 2000s.
Following this I moved to a joinery company running a 10-man joinery shop, the first time I'd run any kind of company. In 2002 I moved Up North to Sheffield and landed a job as General Manager for a prestigious motorhome manufacturer. In 2004 I left to start up my own business called 3r, a scratched disc repair service serving consumers and trade customers and a business that is still operational today. Six months later Xbite was founded and - with help from my brother who was in the video game industry -, I quickly grew sales solely on eBay.
Looking back, when the business started in 2004 it seemed like an exciting time, but it wasn't all fun and games. There was a lot of trepidation and my role at the start was everything - accounts, sales, buying, goods in and out - even walking the dogs, Harry and Charlie.
"Today in my role of Executive Chairman, I will have the time to make more strategic decisions and work with the Directors and Managers to maximise our opportunities and take on new and exciting projects."
